What is Naphthoylindole used for?
It is used in scientific research as a tool to study the cannabinoid system. JWH-073 has been identified in herbal incense mixtures, with names including “Spice”, “K2”, and others, sold via the Internet, gas stations, convenience stores, tobacco shops and head shops.
Why is indole important?
As an intercellular signal molecule, indole regulates various aspects of bacterial physiology, including spore formation, plasmid stability, resistance to drugs, biofilm formation, and virulence. A number of indole derivatives have important cellular functions, including neurotransmitters such as serotonin.
Is indole a base or acid?
Like pyrrole, indole is a weak base and also a weak acid. It is polymerized by strong acids and reacts with potassium hydroxide and Grignard reagents.
